Taliban Administration Says It Has Seized 250 Jeribs of Land in Balkh

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Justice has announced that it has taken control of about 250 jeribs of land in Balkh province, in a move that continues the process of reclaiming land and housing compounds after the group returned to power.

In a statement published on Tuesday, 27 Asad, the ministry said the land includes the “Haji Abdul Baqi and Haji Ismail farms” and is located in the eighth district of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province.

According to the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Justice, documents related to the land were reviewed by the “special court for handling cases of usurped state land in the northern zone.”

Since regaining control of Afghanistan, the Taliban administration has taken control of a number of land plots and housing compounds in different parts of the country and, in similar cases, has claimed that these properties belong to the “emirate.”
