Green Trend Says It Downed Taliban Helicopter in Panjshir

The military wing of Green Trend, known as the “Green Unit,” has claimed that it shot down a Taliban-run helicopter in Panjshir province.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the group said the incident took place at around 7:15 a.m. yesterday, Wednesday, 15 Mizan, and that the wreckage of the helicopter remained in “Arzou Valley.”
According to the “Green Unit,” the two pilots of the helicopter, named Abdulazim and Mohammad Naeem, were seriously injured and taken to Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan 400-bed Hospital in Kabul for treatment.
Green Trend also claimed that the helicopter was carrying “Mullah Naqibullah Moqeem,” the chief of staff of the Taliban administration’s air force, and that the downed helicopter was an Indian-made aircraft that had been donated to the army of the former republic.
The Taliban administration has not commented on the claim as of the publication of this report.
Previously, in June 2022, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan had made a similar claim about the crash of a Taliban helicopter in Panjshir, a claim the Taliban rejected at the time, saying the helicopter had made an emergency landing in a valley because of technical problems.
