Taliban Administration Says It Held Talks with Iran on Importing 2,000 Megawatts of Electricity

The Taliban administration has said that Nooruddin Azizi, acting minister of industry and commerce, held talks with Abbas Aliabadi, Iran’s energy minister, on importing about 2,000 megawatts of electricity to Afghanistan.
According to the report, the two sides also discussed economic cooperation and areas for joint investment, issues that, if realised, could affect access to energy and economic activity in Afghanistan.
No further details were given on the timeline, transmission route, price, or how the electricity export plan and joint investment would be implemented, and it was not clear whether the talks would lead to a practical agreement.
