The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has announced that Moscow will host a regional security meeting focused on Afghanistan and Central Asia on October 15 and 16.

According to the organisation, representatives of the CSTO, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will take part in the meeting.

In a CSTO statement, the talks are described as focusing on “security developments in Central Asia and Afghanistan,” with an emphasis on regional stability and emerging security challenges.

At the same time, the CSTO Collective Security Council is also due to hold a separate meeting in Moscow on November 10 and 11. The council is expected to discuss measures to strengthen the collective security system and expand security cooperation among member states and, according to officials, to review and approve steps to improve coordination and increase regional security cooperation.
