Kremlin Says Russia on Alert Over Europe’s Militarisation

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia has been put on alert in response to what he called Europe’s “aggressive statements and actions” and the European Union’s plans for militarisation, and is closely following developments.
According to TASS, Peskov told a news conference on Wednesday that, as military trends increase in Europe, Moscow is vigilant about Europe’s new measures and plans.
Commenting on France’s recent test of a new missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, the Kremlin spokesman said the European Union has become “sensitive” to the issue of militarisation. He also referred to comments by French President Emmanuel Macron, who described the test as “a loud and clear message.”
France on Tuesday carried out the first test of the submarine-launched ballistic missile M51.3. According to the source, the missile did not have a nuclear warhead during the test, and the purpose of the launch was said to be to check the operational readiness of the nuclear submarine Le Vigilant.
