Taliban Urges Investors to Look Beyond Short-Term Gains in Afghanistan

The Taliban administration has urged investors not to view Afghanistan’s economic opportunities in the short term.
The administration says traders, investors and industrialists must not take a short-term view of Afghanistan’s economic prospects in order to attract investment and expand production in the country.
Dinan Mohammad Hanif, acting minister of economy in the Taliban administration, made the remarks at the opening of the fifth Abu Hanifa National and International Exhibition, saying Afghanistan should not be seen merely as a market for selling goods.
According to him, Afghanistan can become a manufacturing hub and play a role as part of the regional economic chain. Hanif also claimed the country has the capacity to serve as a “bridge” between the markets of Central Asia, South Asia, and East and West.
The Abu Hanifa exhibition is among the events held in recent years to showcase products and trade capacity, and the Taliban administration describes it as part of its efforts to encourage investment.
