Taliban sets mandatory rent in several western Kabul housing estates

Local sources in Kabul say the Taliban administration has set a monthly rent of 4,000 Afghanis per room for residents and tenants of Omid-e Sabz housing estate in western Kabul.

According to the sources, Taliban officials have also asked tenants to pay six months’ rent in advance, a move that could increase immediate financial pressure on low-income families.

The sources add that the Taliban administration has distributed forms among residents to enforce the decision and has made them obliged to pay the rent.

At the same time, the sources say the Taliban has also warned residents of several other housing estates in western Kabul about paying rent. Based on the information provided, these estates include Jaghoriha housing estate, Ata Abuzar housing estate, Mahdia housing estate, Surkhabad and the area behind Masjid-e Shahid Mazari.
