Taliban Reject ICC Arrest Warrants, Say They Do Not Recognise Court

The Taliban administration has rejected arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court.

Following the public release of four arrest warrants issued in 2025 against Taliban officials, the administration said it does not recognise the International Criminal Court and will not abide by its decisions.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban administration’s spokesman, wrote on X on Monday night, 13 Mehr, that the administration places “no value” on the ICC’s warrant for the arrest of its leaders.

He claimed that Taliban leaders had done nothing that would warrant their arrest or punishment by international courts.

The Taliban spokesman also said the administration follows the “rulings of Islamic Sharia” and its courts, and does not consider itself subject to intelligence agencies or international courts.

Mujahid called on international institutions, as he put it, not to make claims “beyond their jurisdiction and powers” in order to preserve their dignity and credibility.

The response comes after the International Criminal Court, at the request of its prosecutor, unsealed four arrest warrants issued in 2025 against Taliban officials. The International Criminal Court is an international judicial body that handles cases related to serious crimes.
