Turkey Police Detain 29 Afghan Asylum Seekers on Balikesir Coast

Turkish police have detained 29 Afghan asylum seekers on the coast of Balikesir province as they were trying to travel from the area to Greece. The detained individuals have been transferred to the public prosecutor’s office.

Among those detained are 10 women and 14 children. Turkish police also said they arrested a person suspected of organising human trafficking.

According to Turkish law enforcement, a handgun, 13 life jackets, 15 tubes, three hand pumps and 48,000 Turkish lira were also seized during the operation.
