Fatima al-Zahra Clinic Reopens in Kabul After Week-Long Closure

The doors of the Fatima al-Zahra Clinic in Dashte Barchi, Kabul, have reopened to patients after being closed for a week, with various departments once again providing medical services. The centre is one of the busiest clinics in the area, and low-income patients use its services because of its affordable fees.

According to local sources, the clinic was shut on Sunday, Sept. 27, on the orders of Taliban authorities. Taliban officials and the clinic’s management have so far not announced the reason for the closure or the conditions for its reopening.

The clinic’s reopening has been welcomed by residents of western Kabul. Local residents have called for the activities of public service centres not to be disrupted and for vulnerable groups to continue to have easy access to medical services.
