Taliban municipal workers remove road sign named after slain journalist, brother says

Sibghatullah Arghand, brother of the slain journalist Abdulmanan Arghand, says municipal workers from the Taliban administration removed and took away a road sign bearing his brother’s name overnight.
He said on Sunday, 12 Mizan, that during the previous government the road had been named “Martyr Abdulmanan Arghand Road.” According to Arghand, after the road was repaired, he had reinstalled a sign with his brother’s name at the site the day before the incident.
Sibghatullah Arghand said municipal workers went to the location by car at night and removed the sign. He added that if putting up the sign had violated regulations, the municipality could have contacted him.
Abdulmanan Arghand was killed in an armed attack in Kandahar on 5 ثور 1397. At the time, the journalist’s killing was attributed to the Taliban.
