Taliban Says 121-Km Wakhan Road in Badakhshan Put Into Service

The Taliban administration has announced that the 121-kilometre Wakhan road in Badakhshan province has been opened for use after construction was completed. The route extends from the Broghil area to the border point with China.
The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar news agency reported on Sunday, 12 Mizan, that the road was built in two phases and cost a total of 365 million Afghanis.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban administration, said the group intends to carry out more development projects in remote areas of Afghanistan.
Taliban officials have described the road as the first overland transit route between Afghanistan and China, saying it could help expand trade and transit between Afghanistan, China and countries in the region.
