Taliban Health Ministry chief seeks more medical cooperation from Russia

Nor Jalal Jalali, acting minister of public health in the Taliban administration, has called for greater Russian assistance to improve Afghanistan’s health services during a meeting with Russian Health Minister Mikhail Albertovich Murashko.

The Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health said Jalali raised Afghanistan’s health sector needs and priorities in the meeting, stressing the need to increase the professional capacity of staff and provide modern medical facilities.

According to the ministry, the two sides discussed cooperation in the areas of medicines, vaccines, medical equipment, training for health workers and the transfer of new technologies.

Murashko said Russia was ready to expand technical cooperation in the health sector. The two sides also emphasized coordination between the relevant institutions to continue and broaden cooperation.
