DABS says Tajikistan ready to increase electricity exports to Afghanistan

Afghanistan’s national power utility, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), under Taliban administration, said Tajikistan is ready to increase electricity exports to Afghanistan. The utility did not provide details on the scale of the increase or when it might take place.

DABS said its chief executive, Mullah Abdulhaq Hamkar, met with Muhammad Omar Asouzadeh, head of Tajikistan’s electricity company. According to DABS, the two sides discussed increasing imported electricity from Tajikistan, expanding transmission lines, improving the quality and voltage of electricity, tariffs, investment opportunities, technical training and the expansion of long-term cooperation.

DABS also claimed that the Tajik side provided information about the construction of a 500-kilovolt transmission line to Afghanistan.
