Taliban Says 41 Killed in Nuristan Operation

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Defence says an operation by its security and defence forces against groups it described as insurgents has ended in Kamdesh district of Nuristan province. The ministry claimed 41 people were killed and 62 others were detained alive during the operation.

In a statement, the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Defence referred to the groups as “Shur-afsad” and Islamic State Khorasan. It claimed members of these groups had crossed the Durand Line with the help of Pakistani soldiers.

The ministry said its security and defence forces would not allow instability to be created in the country. However, the statement did not provide further details about the identities of those killed and detained, or the exact timing of the operation.
