Tajikistan Says It Is Ready to Increase Electricity Exports to Afghanistan

Tajikistan has announced that it is ready to increase electricity exports to Afghanistan and has also revealed plans to build a 500-kilovolt transmission line.

The issue was raised during a meeting between Abdulhaq Hamkar, chief executive of the power utility Breshna, and Muhammad Omar Asouzadeh, head of Tajikistan’s state electricity company, Barqi Tajik. The two sides discussed increasing imported electricity to Afghanistan, expanding transmission lines, and improving the quality and voltage of electricity.

Investment and technical cooperation were also among the topics covered in the meeting. The two sides agreed that talks between technical and commercial teams should continue so they can reach practical results on expanding cooperation.
