Taliban says 171 families returned to Afghanistan from neighbouring countries

The Taliban administration said 171 families, including 754 people, returned to Afghanistan from neighbouring countries yesterday.

Hamdullah Fitrat, spokesman for the Taliban administration, said in a statement on Monday, 6 Mizan, that 41 families comprising 227 people entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province.

He said 11 families, or 69 people, also returned to the country via the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.

Fitrat added that 113 families comprising 452 people entered Afghanistan through the Silk Bridge in Nimroz province, and six families, or 25 people, came in via the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province.

Torkham, Spin Boldak, Silk Bridge and Islam Qala are among Afghanistan’s most important border crossings with Pakistan and Iran, and a large share of cross-border traffic passes through these routes.
