Ghazni Residents Begin Construction of Private Hospital at Their Own Expense

Local sources in Ghazni say residents of the province have begun construction of a standard hospital in the provincial capital, a move taken in response to a shortage of health services in government hospitals and the difficulties faced by patients.

According to the sources, the cost of building the hospital is estimated at about $1.5 million and will be funded by the public and a charity organization. The hospital is set to be built in the Qala-e Ahangaran area of Ghazni city.

The sources added that the health facility will be constructed on land with a 800-square-metre footprint and will have six floors. They said the aim of the project is to provide quality health services for the people of Ghazni.

Several of the hospital’s donors said they decided to pay for the construction of the centre because of the lack of adequate health services in the province’s government hospitals and the hardships faced by patients.

Ghazni is located in southeastern Afghanistan, and its capital is Ghazni city. Residents of the province have previously also funded and completed a number of public projects with their own money.
