Fighting Continues Between Freedom Front and Taliban Administration in Kamdesh, Nuristan
The Afghanistan Freedom Front has announced that clashes between its forces and Taliban administration forces began this morning, Saturday, 4 Mizan, in Kamdesh district of Nuristan province and are still ongoing.
In a statement, the front said Taliban administration forces attacked its positions using ground forces and several drones. According to the front, its forces resisted the attack and then launched a counterattack.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front also claimed that during the clashes, several Taliban checkpoints were captured by its forces and Taliban administration forces were pushed back from the Arandu area and parts of Kamdesh district in Nuristan and Nari district in Kunar province.
The front added that fighting remains intense in these areas. Local Taliban officials in Nuristan have so far not responded to the reports.
Kamdesh is one of the eastern districts of Nuristan, located next to Kunar province, and in recent years it has repeatedly witnessed security incidents and armed clashes.
