Saudi defence minister meets Pakistan army chief on Makkah security

Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman has met and held talks with Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, on security issues related to Makkah and Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic infrastructure.

The Saudi defence minister wrote on X on Tuesday that the talks were held within the framework of the Makkah joint defence agreement, and that the outcomes of the chiefs of staff meeting were also reviewed.

According to him, the two sides also continued to exchange views on attacks against the holy city of Makkah as well as Saudi civilian and economic facilities.

Khalid bin Salman added that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan had stressed the continuation of joint efforts to counter these attacks, in line with the Makkah joint defence agreement.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have maintained close security and defence ties in recent years, and military cooperation between the two countries is regarded as a constant pillar of bilateral relations.
