Uzbekistan calls at UN for peaceful life for all Afghans

Saida Mirziyoyeva, the head of office and daughter of Uzbekistan’s president, said at the United Nations General Assembly that viewing Afghanistan solely as a source of threat would not help resolve the country’s crisis.

She also stressed that excluding the people of Afghanistan from different ethnic groups is not a solution to the current situation, and that hope and confidence should be given to the country’s people that they can achieve a peaceful life.

In part of her remarks on developments in Central Asia, Mirziyoyeva said regional countries had in recent years tried to shape their relations on the basis of cooperation and partnership, rather than threat.

According to her, the same approach should also be followed toward Afghanistan. The UN General Assembly is one of the world’s most important multilateral gatherings, where officials from countries present their views on international issues.
