US claims 90% of Iran’s international flights have been halted
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has claimed that more than 80% to 90% of Iran’s international flights have been stopped.
According to Al Jazeera, citing Fox News, he made the claim after previously announcing broad restrictions on the international operations of Iranian airlines.
Bessent said on Wednesday morning, September 22, that from Sept. 23, Iranian airlines would face sweeping restrictions on their international activities.
He also warned that countries providing Iranian aircraft with services such as refuelling, landing services or ticket sales could face limits on access to the US financial system and dollar settlement network.
In another part of his remarks, the US Treasury Secretary claimed that Washington and Beijing had agreed to extend economic de-escalation between the two countries to allow more time to reach a broader deal.
