Two Afghan Wushu Athletes Win Bronze at Asian Games in Japan

Two athletes from Afghanistan’s national wushu team lost to opponents from China in the semi-finals of the competition on Wednesday and won bronze medals at the Asian Games in Japan.

Hamed Ashrafi and Mohammad Khalid Hotak both lost their semi-final bouts by points. With this result, the two athletes shared third place.

Before reaching the semi-finals, the two national team members had defeated opponents from Yemen, Macau and Indonesia.

Wushu is considered one of the most popular martial arts in Asia, and Afghanistan has also taken part in this category in some regional and Asian competitions in recent years.
