Bernie Sanders calls Trump’s threat against Iran a war crime

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, reacting to remarks by Donald Trump, said that threatening to “wipe out” the people of Iran is a war crime and that the United States should not be involved in such an action.

In a post on social media, Sanders stressed: “Wiping out the people of Iran, as Trump has threatened, is a war crime and a barbaric act that the United States should in no way be associated with.” He added: “No, Mr. President, we should not wipe out the people of Iran. This is a war crime and a barbaric act.”

The U.S. senator also said that America’s aggression against Iran was illegal, and that Congress must act immediately to end this war and take the necessary steps.

Trump had earlier claimed during the UN General Assembly that he had to make a big decision on Iran: either reach a major deal with the country or wipe it out. The UN General Assembly is held annually in New York with the attendance of leaders and officials from various countries.
