Lavrov Accuses ICC of Political Bias Over Western Crimes Cases

The Russian embassy in Germany quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying that the International Criminal Court had ignored for years what he described as the West’s crimes in cases related to Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.

Lavrov also claimed that the ICC was under the influence of its Western supporters and that the court’s handling of cases involving different countries was politically motivated.

The remarks come as the International Criminal Court, established as an international judicial body to investigate war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, has jurisdiction over a number of cases related to Afghanistan.
