Trump Rejects Reports of US Ammunition Shortages After War With Iran
US President Donald Trump has rejected media reports of dwindling US ammunition stocks after nearly seven months of war against Iran, saying the United States is not facing a weapons shortage.
Writing on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday, Trump said: “Cowards and losers like to say the U.S. has low ammunition. That’s not true.” He also claimed the United States has “more ammunition than we can possibly imagine” while at the same time increasing its stockpiles to unprecedented levels.
The remarks came after reports had previously emerged about pressure on US ammunition stocks and interceptor systems during the war against Iran. The Pentagon has also rejected those reports.
However, an inspector general report from the US Department of War said there had been some strategic shortages in stockpiles, as well as bottlenecks in production capacity and replenishment of ammunition. The Pentagon is the US Department of Defense and is responsible for managing the country’s military operations and defence logistics.
