Father Shot Dead in One of Two Separate Incidents in Nangarhar

Nangarhar police say that in two separate incidents in Dar-e-Nur district of the province, a young man shot and killed his father, while in another incident a young man died by suicide.

In a statement, the Nangarhar police command said both incidents took place this morning in two different areas of Dar-e-Nur district. The agency did not provide further details, but said investigations into the incidents have begun.

According to police, initial information shows that in the first incident, a young man killed his father by gunfire after his father advised him and they got into a verbal argument.

The Nangarhar police command added that the suspect fled the scene and efforts by security forces to arrest him are ongoing.

In the second incident, which occurred in the same district, a young man hanged himself after his father barred him from associating with bad friends.

Police said security forces reached the scene after the incidents and investigations are continuing. Dar-e-Nur district is one of the districts of Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan.
