Taliban says 226 Afghan families forced back from four border crossings in one day

The Taliban administration says 226 Afghan families, comprising 1,030 people, were forcibly returned to Afghanistan through four border crossings in a single day.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban administration, said in a statement on Tuesday, Sept. 31, that 41 families, including 203 people, entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar province, and 14 families, including 79 people, came through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.

According to him, 155 families, comprising 686 people, also returned to the country via the Pul-e-Abrisham crossing in Nimroz province. He added that another 16 families, including 62 people, entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala crossing.

Torkham, Spin Boldak, Pul-e-Abrisham and Islam Qala are among Afghanistan’s most important border crossings with Pakistan and Iran, and the bulk of migrant movement and cross-border transfers take place through these routes.
