At Least 11 Abducted in Nigeria, Including Pregnant Woman and Children

Local sources in Nigeria’s Kwara State report that at least 11 people, including a pregnant woman and several children, have been abducted by armed men. The incident occurred in Ekiti, located in the central-northern region of the country.
According to reports, around 30 attackers stormed the area on Monday night, firing sporadically before taking the hostages into nearby forested routes.
This kidnapping took place just one day after 38 other hostages were released—individuals who had been abducted last week during a church service in the town of Ireko. That previous attack also resulted in multiple casualties.
Tensions have heightened in surrounding areas, including Isaba, following the latest abductions. Security forces, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have launched search and rescue operations to locate the hostages.
In response to the escalating violence, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that continued attacks on religious minorities, particularly Christians, may prompt the deployment of American forces to Nigeria. He described the current situation as a “massacre” and placed Nigeria on a list of “countries of particular concern.”
However, the Nigerian government has denied reports of Christian killings, stating its continued commitment to religious freedom.
Nigeria, located in West Africa, is the continent’s most populous nation and has in recent years seen frequent attacks by armed groups—a situation that has drawn concern from the international community.
