Taliban Summons Pakistani Envoy in Kabul Over Airstrikes

The Taliban administration said it summoned the chargé d’affaires of the Pakistani embassy in Kabul and handed him a formal protest note following Pakistani airstrikes on civilian areas and facilities in Kunar and Paktika provinces.

In a statement, the Taliban foreign ministry said the protest was lodged after what it described as a violation of Afghanistan’s airspace by the Pakistani army. The ministry said the strikes were condemned as a clear breach of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Taliban administration also rejected claims linking recent security incidents in Pakistan to Afghan territory. The foreign ministry said attributing these incidents to Afghanistan and justifying military action on that basis was an attempt to distort the facts and mislead public opinion.

According to the Taliban administration, Pakistan should focus on identifying and resolving the internal causes of its security and political challenges rather than blaming other countries.

Kunar in eastern Afghanistan and Paktika in the southeast are among the provinces bordering Pakistan, and similar border tensions and attacks have been reported repeatedly in these areas in the past.
