Hamas Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

Hamas has warned of the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, saying that Israel’s continued attacks, as winter approaches, have made living conditions more difficult for residents of the enclave.

According to Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, the head of the movement’s political bureau, has held extensive contacts with mediators and warned in these talks of growing pressure on Palestinian civilians. He called on “friendly and brotherly” countries to act to contain the situation.

Hamas said that preventing the entry of heavy equipment for debris removal has complicated efforts to deal with the aftermath of the attacks. The movement also added that the lack of suitable tents for displaced Palestinians, with the onset of cold and rain, has made the situation more unsafe for tens of thousands of people.

According to Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya stressed that the continuation of this situation could eliminate opportunities for stability and prevent the fulfilment of the requirements related to the current US President Donald Trump’s plan. He called on the parties involved to pressure Israel to implement its commitments.

The Gaza Strip is a narrow coastal strip on the Mediterranean that has faced years of war, blockade and repeated humanitarian crises, and the ongoing conflict has further restricted residents’ access to shelter and basic services.
