Wedding Guests Killed as Vehicle Overturns in Faryab Province

In a tragic incident in Afghanistan’s Faryab province, a vehicle carrying wedding guests overturned after plunging from a height while returning from the village of Rahi to the village of Ji in Pashtunkot district.

The accident occurred in the Mian-Dara area and resulted in the deaths of at least eight people, including five women, three men, and a child. An additional 15 people were injured, most of them women and children. The injured have been transported to the provincial hospital in Faryab, where some are reported to be in critical condition.

The exact cause of the crash remains unclear, and Taliban authorities in Faryab have declined to comment on the incident. The lack of response from responsible agencies and the absence of proper oversight of road conditions and vehicles have once again resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives.

This incident has once again drawn attention to the unsafe and substandard condition of rural roads in Faryab province—a longstanding issue that continues to be ignored by Taliban administration, with little transparency in reporting recurring accidents.
