Russia Says It Shot Down 249 Ukrainian Drones in Overnight Attack

Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday morning that its air defense forces had shot down 249 Ukrainian drones during one of the largest drone attacks launched by Ukraine in recent months. According to the ministry, the large-scale assault began at 11 p.m. Moscow time and continued until 7 a.m.
Russian officials described the operation as Ukraine’s “largest” drone attack in recent months. While they did not provide details about the exact locations targeted or any potential damage, Moscow claimed that the drones were intercepted and destroyed before reaching their objectives.
At the same time, Kyiv was also subjected to missile and drone strikes. The city’s mayor reported multiple explosions and fires across different areas of the Ukrainian capital but did not release information about casualties or specific damages.
The escalation in reciprocal aerial attacks between Russia and Ukraine continues as the war enters its third year. So far, diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire have failed. These developments have further heightened international concerns over mounting insecurity and the worsening humanitarian crisis in Europe.
