Afghan Chamber of Commerce Calls for Higher Fruit Exports to India

Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment has called for an increase in exports of fresh and dried Afghan fruit to India and for the process to be facilitated, during a meeting with the acting head of the Indian Embassy in Kabul.

At the meeting, Syed Karim Hashemi, chief executive of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, urged more Kam Air flights to India, the launch of dedicated cargo flights, and the facilitation and acceleration of visa issuance for Afghan traders.

Yatin Patel, the acting head of the Indian Embassy in Kabul, said he would share the requests raised regarding more flights, air cargo services and easier visas for Afghan traders with the relevant Indian institutions.

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment is one of the country’s major private sector bodies, and exports of fresh and dried fruit are considered an important part of Afghanistan’s trade with regional markets, including India.
