Taliban says Afghanistan body held technical talks with India standards agency
The Taliban administration said Afghanistan’s National Standard and Quality Authority has held talks with the Standards Authority of India on exchanging experience and expanding technical cooperation in the field of International Electrotechnical Commission standards.
A statement from Afghanistan’s National Standard and Quality Authority said the focus of the meeting was the development, adoption, application and management of international electrotechnical standards. According to the authority, Mawlavi Mohammad Hanif, head of standards and construction code development and promotion, an electrotechnical standards development specialist, and a number of officials and experts from the Standards Authority of India attended the meeting.
The statement said the two sides discussed technical issues related to the adoption and use of IEC standards, the management and access to standards documents, and methods of distributing these documents. Experts from the Standards Authority of India also shared their experience and professional views in this regard.
The Taliban administration claimed that representatives of the Standards Authority of India agreed to share regulations, procedures and documents related to the management and use of standards with Afghanistan’s National Standard and Quality Authority by email. According to the authority, these documents will be reviewed and assessed by technical departments after receipt.
The International Electrotechnical Commission is an international standards-setting body in the fields of electricity, electronics and related technologies. The Standards Authority of India is also regarded as the country’s official body for setting and implementing national and international standards.
