Over 18,000 Afghan Citizens Received ID Services in November

The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) has announced that in the Afghan month of Aqrab 1404 (October–November 2025), it provided paper ID card services—both in-person and remotely—to a total of 18,572 citizens across the country.

Of those, 13,370 individuals received services by visiting NSIA offices in person, while 5,202 accessed the services remotely.

According to the released details, in Kabul alone, 1,179 new paper ID cards were issued and 932 replacement ID cards were provided. Additionally, 11,259 people received data correction services for their ID cards.

In the section of remote services, 2,138 new ID cards and 685 replacement cards were issued, while 2,379 individuals received correction services for their paper ID cards.

The NSIA is directly responsible for providing ID card services. However, its operations under the Taliban-led administration have raised concerns regarding transparency, equitable access, and efficiency. With the Taliban currently overseeing the agency, questions persist about the politicization of the process and access difficulties for citizens in certain provinces.
