German finance minister urges Trump to end war with Iran

German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil has urged US President Donald Trump to end the war with Iran ahead of his trip to the United States for a Group of 20 meeting.

He described the conflict as “irresponsible” and stressed the need to stop it.

Klingbeil, who is also Germany’s vice chancellor, told ARD that the most important message to the United States is that this war must end. He said continuing the situation would have direct economic consequences.

The German finance minister also blamed Trump for rising fuel prices, saying the main culprit is Donald Trump and the irresponsible war he has launched against Iran, according to him. He added that the effects of this situation are being felt at petrol stations.

Finance ministers from G20 member states are scheduled to meet on Monday and Tuesday this week in Asheville, North Carolina. The meeting comes ahead of the G20 leaders’ summit, which is due to be held later this year in Miami.
