WHO Provides Treatment to Nearly 8,000 Children With Acute Malnutrition in Afghanistan
The World Health Organization in Afghanistan has said it has provided treatment services to nearly 8,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition, an effort made amid continuing pressure on Afghanistan’s health system.
The agency wrote on X on Monday, 2 Sonbola, that every person, regardless of where they live, should have access to quality health care. WHO stressed that these services were delivered with support from the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.
According to the agency, with this backing more than 42,000 people in Afghanistan’s most vulnerable communities received essential health services. WHO also said disease surveillance for early detection was strengthened under the same support.
Afghanistan has faced major health-sector challenges in recent years, and reports show that after the return of the Taliban administration, the country’s health system has come under even greater strain. The World Health Organization is one of the main international agencies working to meet urgent health needs in Afghanistan.
