Taliban Says It Is Monitoring Restoration of Historic Amir Dost Mohammad Khan School

The Taliban-run Ministry of Urban Development and Housing says restoration work on the historic Amir Dost Mohammad Khan School building in Kabul has come under its technical supervision.

According to the ministry, the purpose of the supervision is to review the progress of the restoration, ensure compliance with principles for preserving historic monuments, and protect the building’s historical authenticity, cultural identity and value.

The Taliban administration did not provide any details on when the monitoring began, how far the work has progressed, or any further information about the restoration process of this historic school.

The Amir Dost Mohammad Khan School is considered one of Kabul’s historic buildings, and the protection of such monuments is part of the responsibility of government institutions toward the country’s cultural heritage.
