Turkey discusses Strait of Hormuz with Egypt and Saudi Arabia

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has held separate talks with the foreign ministers of Egypt and Saudi Arabia on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and a number of regional developments.

Fidan said the calls were part of diplomatic consultations on the latest developments in the region. According to him, the discussions also assessed the course of ongoing negotiations among countries involved in related tensions.

The Turkish foreign minister also said that he and his Egyptian and Saudi counterparts examined the obstacles to implementing the Gaza peace plan and possible steps to advance it.

According to Fidan, developments in Syria were also among the other main topics of the talks, and the sides stressed support for establishing peace and stability in that country.

He added that Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia had insisted on continuing cooperation and coordination in various fields. The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the region’s key energy transit routes, and any development there usually draws attention from regional and international actors.
