Germany Relocates 52 Afghan Refugees from Pakistan

Germany has relocated 52 Afghan refugees from Pakistan, the German government announced on Thursday, November 19. The individuals had previously received approval for resettlement in Germany and were flown directly from Islamabad to the country.
According to German media citing official sources, the transfer was carried out as part of a special program to relocate individuals who faced security threats following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan. The refugees had already been granted admission under Germany’s special intake program.
This marks the sixth group of Afghan nationals to arrive in Germany from Pakistan since the current coalition government took office. Despite a general halt in the admission of new asylum seekers, the German government continues to gradually bring in approved individuals under this special arrangement.
According to Deutsche Welle, approximately 1,900 Afghan nationals who have already been approved for resettlement are still waiting in Pakistan. The delays in the relocation process have weakened the morale and hopes of many Afghans who are at risk following the Taliban’s takeover.
