Germany Plans to Revoke Citizenship of Hamas Supporters
Germany has announced its support for a new legislative proposal that would revoke the citizenship of individuals found to support Hamas.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said on Tuesday that anyone who accepts German citizenship must align with the core values and principles of the Federal Republic. He stressed that support for groups like Hamas—designated as a terrorist organization by the European Union—directly contradicts these values.
According to German officials, the move aims to safeguard national security, strengthen social cohesion, and ensure that citizens adhere to the rule of law. While the operational details of the plan have yet to be finalized, it is expected to be debated in the German parliament in the near future.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns across Europe over increasing restrictions on refugees. Human rights organizations argue that such measures undermine freedom of expression and fundamental human rights.
