Taliban Minister Visits Food Expo in India to Boost Afghan Trade Ties

Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban administration’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, visited the stalls of Afghan companies at the Pragati Maidan international exhibition during his official trip to New Delhi.

According to official sources, Azizi reviewed the activities and achievements of Afghan firms and was briefed on their challenges. Afghan traders, while voicing satisfaction with trade relations with India, raised concerns over issues in banking, customs, and regulatory sectors.

Azizi promised to raise these concerns with Indian officials and said he would follow up to address the problems facing Afghan traders.

He also held a separate meeting with officials from the India Trade Promotion Organisation, which organized the exhibition. During the meeting, both sides discussed holding joint exhibitions in New Delhi and Kabul, streamlining the visa process for Afghan traders, creating special zones for Afghan companies at trade fairs, and exploring ways to deepen commercial cooperation.

While the Taliban administration frames such visits as part of its broader effort to strengthen economic ties with regional countries, particularly India, the lack of a transparent banking system and ongoing international pressure on the regime have cast doubt on the future of these initiatives.
