Investors Launch $10 Million Pharmaceutical Project in Panjshir
A number of investors have begun construction of factories to produce pharmaceuticals, drinking water and non-alcoholic beverages in Panjshir province, a project local Taliban administration officials say has an initial investment of $10 million.
Saifuddin Laton, spokesman for the Taliban administration’s governor in Panjshir, said the project would use Panjshir’s water and fruit produced in the province to make drinking water and beverages.
According to him, the pharmaceutical section is also expected to produce 18 types of serum, with a daily capacity of around 200,000 bags. Laton added that the investors have raised the possibility of increasing the project’s investment to $28 million in the future.
The investors expressed their interest in investing in these sectors during a meeting with Hafez Mohammad Agha Hakim, the Taliban administration’s governor in Panjshir. The local Taliban official also pledged support for the implementation of the projects.
Based on information provided by local officials, once completed, the project will create jobs for about 500 people and help meet part of the market’s demand for pharmaceuticals, drinking water and non-alcoholic beverages through domestic production.
