UNICEF Provides Life-Saving Treatment for Severely Malnourished Children in Afghanistan
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced the implementation of specialized treatment programs for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in Afghanistan.
On Sunday, August 9, UNICEF stated on its X (formerly Twitter) page that these services, supported by the European Union in Afghanistan, include therapeutic feeding for children in need.
According to UNICEF, the goal of these programs is to improve the health status of children and prevent the deadly consequences of malnutrition.
UNICEF had earlier warned that 3.7 million children under five years old in Afghanistan are at risk of increasing malnutrition due to food insecurity and inadequate nutrition, a figure that reflects the widespread nutritional crisis among the country’s children.
