Taliban Issues Over 69,000 Passports in Islamic Year 1447

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, announced that the General Directorate of Passports issued and distributed a total of 69,717 passports in the Islamic year 1447.

According to him, of these, 65,860 were ordinary passports, 3,345 were commercial passports, and 512 were student passports. Mujahid provided these statistics on Sunday, August 9th, during the program “Governance in the Mirror of the Press.”

The Taliban spokesperson also stated that during the same period, visas for 16,171 foreign nationals were renewed.

The General Directorate of Passports operates under the acting Ministry of Interior of the Taliban administration, and passport issuance is considered an essential service needed by citizens. In recent years, this service has often been accompanied by long queues and widespread complaints from applicants.
