WHO Expands Life-Saving Health Services Across Afghanistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced, with the support of the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), that it has strengthened the provision of essential and life-saving health services in Afghanistan. This initiative aims to increase access for vulnerable individuals to necessary care at the right time and place.
In a report released on Thursday, August 6, WHO stated that this collaboration helps vulnerable populations access primary healthcare services and prevents the consequences of inadequate medical care.
According to WHO, these support efforts cover various parts of the country, including the Pangani Health Center in Badakhshan province.
The report highlights that the Pangani Health Center provides essential health services to more than 8,000 residents in this area and nearby villages. The center also offers specialized care for women, including antenatal services, childbirth, and maternal and child health care.
In recent years, WHO, alongside other relief organizations, has supported primary healthcare services in remote and underserved regions of Afghanistan—areas where residents face shortages of medical facilities and health resources.
