Taliban District Deputy Governor Killed in Faryab Province Attack

Local sources in Faryab province have confirmed that Mohammaduddin Safdar, the deputy district governor of the Taliban administration in Chahalgazi district, was killed on Tuesday, November 17, in an attack by unidentified gunmen.
According to the Etilaatroz daily, the incident occurred while Safdar was traveling home from his office by motorcycle. The assault took place in his native village of Katawalang, located within the recently established Chahalgazi district.
Two local sources who spoke to Etilaatroz confirmed that Mohammaduddin was a resident of this village. The motive and perpetrators behind the attack remain unknown, and no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
Despite the assassination targeting a local Taliban official, authorities from the Taliban administration in Faryab have yet to issue an official response.
The Chahalgazi district, recently established in Faryab province, is considered relatively unstable. In the past, there have been multiple reports of clashes and armed attacks against Taliban officials in the area.
