International Red Cross Provides Cash Aid to Flood Victims in Kunar and Nuristan

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has announced that it will provide cash assistance to families affected by recent floods in the provinces of Kunar and Nuristan, highlighting once again the urgent need for support in these areas.

This issue was raised during a meeting between Sheikh Shahabuddin Dilawar, Director General of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, and Johannes Bruwer, Head of the ICRC in Afghanistan. The Afghan Red Crescent Society stated that discussions during the meeting focused on humanitarian cooperation for the current and coming year and on joint programs.

According to the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Dilawar called for increased international support to develop health services and address the urgent needs of flood-affected families.

In response, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross emphasized the continuation of collaboration in health services and strengthening the economic situation of vulnerable families, assuring that aid efforts for flood victims would continue.

Recent floods in some eastern regions of the country, including Kunar and Nuristan, have caused significant damage to homes and livelihoods, leaving many families in urgent need of assistance.
