Afghanistan National Futsal Team Suffers Heavy Defeat to Thailand in Opening Match

The Afghanistan national futsal team suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat against host nation Thailand in their opening match of the Continental Futsal 2026 tournament.

The match took place on Sunday evening, August 2, in Nonthaburi, Thailand. Afghanistan’s players showed a relatively acceptable performance in the first half, conceding only one goal.

At the start of the second half, Thailand intensified their attacks and scored five more goals against Afghanistan. The Afghan team managed to score one goal in response, but the game ultimately ended with a decisive victory for the hosts.

In this tournament, Afghanistan is grouped with Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, and New Zealand. Following this defeat, the national team is preparing for their second match against Vietnam.
